The Center’s team has been providing training and advising on cybersecurity awareness for small business since 2017. The Small Business Cybersecurity Training Academy was designed to address the federal requirement for contract compliance outlined by the FAR and DFARS as well as the NIST cybersecurity framework. This Academy has been a hands-on series in which each participant has developed functional plans and processes to address cybersecurity compliance requirements and resiliency. This program has been the foundation of cybersecurity awareness programs for the Texas South-West SBDC Network to partner on regional, state and federal levels.
The UTSA SBDC Center for Government Contracting has teamed up with the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII) to launch a new cyber training and advising initiative specific to the Manufacturing Industry. CyManII is a public-private partnership that will lead the cyber research and development community as part of a national strategy. This partnership highlights the dedication of UTSA bringing Cyber Excellence to the manufacturing sector. Key points of focus will be on securing automation, the supply chain network and building a national program for education and workforce development. Training will target the operational personnel, leadership and operational technology implementers.
